Introduction of Asian Pacific Expo of Theatre Schools & 5th Shanghai International Experimental Thea

On March 29-30, 2008, representatives of 16 theatre schools from 13 Asian Pacific nations/regions and Dr. Corneliu Domitriu, Chairholder of UNESCO Chair ITI, gathered at Shanghai Theatre Academy for the first Asian-Pacific Regional Conference of Theatre School Directors under the auspices of UNESCO Chair ITI. The UNESCO Chair ITI Asian Pacific Bureau of Theatre Schools was formally established then. A decision was made at the conference that in June, 2009, STA would host the First Theatre School Expo of APB, which will coincide with the Fifth Shanghai International Experimental Theatre Festival also hosted by STA. On June 6-12, there will be full productions, themed workshops, and APB Member School Directors’ Conference. On June 13 and 14, there will be an academic symposium hosted by the National Academy of Chinese Theatre Arts in Beijing.
