Press Conference of UNESCO Chair ITI Asian-Pacific Expo of Theatre Schools

At 4:30 this afternoon, the press conference of UNESCO Chair ITI Asian-Pacific Expo of Theatre Schools & Fifth Shanghai International Experimental Theatre Festival was held at the conference room in the Fuoxi Building. Han Sheng, Vice President (in charge) of STA, Fang Shizhong, Deputy Administrative Chief of Jingan Distric, Ba Tu, Vice President of China抯 National Academy of Chinese Theatre Arts and some of the representatives from delegations participating in the expo were present at the conference. Sun Huizhu, Vice President of STA presided over the conference. Journalists from Xinhua News Agency, China Culture Daily, Jiefang Daily, Wenhui Daily, Xinmin Evening News, Oriental Morning Post, Shanghai Morning Post, Daily News, STV, Shanghai Daily, and Shanghai Theatre attended the press conference.

During the press conference, Han Sheng, Vice President (in charge) of STA, Fang Shizhong, Deputy Administrative Chief of Jingan Distric and representatives from delegations participating in the expo delivered speeches and answered the questions from the media.

On March 29-30, 2008, representatives of 16 theatre schools from 13 Asian-Pacific countries/regions, gathered at Shanghai Theatre Academy for the first Asian-Pacific Regional Conference of Theatre School Directors under the auspices of UNESCO Chair ITI. The UNESCO Chair ITI Asian-Pacific Bureau of Theatre Schools was formally established then. A decision was made at the conference that in June, 2009, STA and National Academy of Chinese Theatre Arts would co-host the First Theatre School Expo of APB, named UNESCO Chair ITI Asian-Pacific Expo of Theatre Schools & Fifth Shanghai International Experimental Theatre Festival.   

At the same time, Shanghai Theatre Academy decided that starting from 2009, the international experimental theatre festival will be held every two years and combine the fifth international experimental theatre festival with the 2009 theatre expo.
