The Opening Drama of 2009 Theatre Expo -“Meet you on the air tomorrow” 07/06/2009

At 7:15 last night, UNESCO Chair ITI Asian-Pacific Expo of Theatre Schools & Fifth Shanghai International Experimental Theatre Festival officially started. “Meet you on the air tomorrow” by Taipei University of the Arts, Chinese Taipei was on performance in the Duanjun Theatre at STA.

“Meet you on the air tomorrow”was created by Jin Shijie, famous dramatist in Taiwan, Associate Professor of Taipei University of the Arts Department of Drama and directed by Lin Ruping, Assistant Professor of Taipei University of the Arts Department of Drama. The drama also gathered a lot of outstanding performers and staff from Taipei University of the Arts. The drama has been performed for many times since 1988. It is a story of a man and a woman. Xiaohai, together with Wugui, try to blackmail Dudu and Chenghua who have just started a relationship in the park but failed. Instead they connect a bunch of people who have been strangers to each other. Hence the story of sun and moon. On the wedding day, a pale girl Li Wenyuan, a good friend of the bride Dudu, asks Xiaohai for help when her body bleeds. Something impossible happens—the sun mets the moon.Wenyuan and Xiaohai make a pledge to be in love for a year. A year later, the moon disappears, while the sun is left alone—burning itself in a self-destructive way… The story gradually unveils the fragile quality of human nature. Just as the creator says, the sooner one sees the fragile quality of human, the better he forgive others including himself and the friends in the drama.

The opening performance last night which was welcomed and acclaimed by the audience lasted for an hour and 45 minutes. Andre Perinetti, the representative of UNESCO Chair ITI, representatives form different delegations and heads of our academy watched the performance.
