At 1:30 on the afternoon of June 7, 2009, the first workshop in the theatre expo was held at the east rehearsal hall. The workshop was presented by teachers and students from Toi Whakaari New Zealand Drama School, and Ateneo de Manila University of the Philippines.
In the workshop, Toi Whakaari New Zealand Drama School trained the students how to control the stage space by means of sound and change of speed. After that, Ateneo de Manila University of the Philippines performed "Romeo and Juliet" which was combined with the traditional dance "igal". Mr. Santamaria also taught the students the dance "igal".
During the communication after the performance, the audience learned how the performance was created. For the teachers and students of drama schools, workshops are somehow more important than formal productions, as they are the main form of communication between drama schools.
