From 9:00 to 12:00 this morning, the Second UNESCO Chair ITI Asian-Pacific Bureau Regional Conference of Theatre School Directors was held at the conference room in the Fuoxi Building. Representatives from UNESCO Chair ITI “ Theatre and Culture of Civilizations ”, National Academy of Chinese Theatre Arts, China, Hong Kong Academy of Performing Arts, School of Drama, Shanghai Theatre Academy, Taipei University of the Arts, National School of Drama, India, Indonesia Institute of the Arts, University of Tehran, Faculty of Fine Arts, School of Drama & Music, Iran, Korea National University of Arts, School of Drama, Toi Whakaari New Zealand Drama School, Ateneo de Manila University, Theater Arts, Fine Arts Program, Philippines, Philippines Centre for ITI-UNESCO, Lasalle College of the Arts, Singapore, National Centre for Practical Workshop and Professional Training in Performance, Vietnam attended the conference. Schools that cannot attend the conference such as Victorian College of the Arts, School of Drama, Australia sent their greetings.
The two-day conference will focus on new theatre schools joining APB as member schools, future plans of APB Theatre Expo, creation of a data base regarding higher education in theatre in the Asian-Pacific region in the form of an APB website, promotion of academic mobility and circulation regarding the pedagogical methods of theatre schools in the region, plans for short-term exchange of teachers and students among theatre schools, a module for summer schools, etc. The theatre school directors will explore how to promote theatre traditions of each country as well as enhance international communication on arts from multi-cultural respect. Taking the opportunity of this theatre expo, theatre schools in the Asian-Pacific region will combine their advantages to promote communication on theatre culture and education and the further development of theatre arts in the Asian-Pacific region.
