The performance
On the night of June 9, experimental drama “Fetish Child” by Japanese theatrical delegation was successfully performed at Ke Center for the Contemporary Arts.
“Fetish Child” tells the story of the mental development of a self-abased woman. Kinoshita feels inferior about her body. She cannot find herself attractive to man, which makes her very confused. One day, she encounters a woman with psychological barriers and starts a peculiar job—soliciting customers for a new kind of sex trade providing service to men with fetishism.
These women satisfy men who have a fetish of a certain part of a woman's body. Kinoshita does not feel less anxious than before, because she cannot bear the abnormal hobby. After she came across a woman locked in a toilet, Kinoshita gradually falls into sleep with security.
The director uses abundant dialogues instead of much movement in telling the story. The dim lighting served as a foil to the characters'inner change of emotion.
