Dance School Student Wins Top Prize in the 37th International Ballet Competition 03/02/2009


Shanghai Theatre Academy Affiliated Dance School student Peng Zhaoqian won the top prize in the 37th International Ballet Competition in Lausanne (Prix de Lausanne) in February 2009.

As the top international ballet competition for young dancers, International Ballet Competition in Lausanne (Prix de Lausanne) attracts 192 ballet students from 32 countries this year. 85 candidates from 21 countries were qualified for the semi-finals in Lausanne. Among them were Students of Shanghai Theatre Academy Affiliated Dance School Peng Zhaoqian, Yang Ruiqi, Chen Qi and Wang Lizhong.

Led by Chen Jianian, Vice President of Affiliated Dance School, a group of three teachers and four candidates went to Switzerland. The competition began on January 27. Our candidates’standard movement left a deep impression on the judges. At last, 20 candidates entered the final competition including Peng Zhaoqian, Yang Ruiqi and Chen Qi.

The final competition was held on February 1. To our excitement and joy,Peng Zhaoqian won the top prize with her perfect performance.
Peng Zhaoqian has made great progress under the six-year training of Ms. Shi Jianfang and is considered a promising ballet talent.

After six years’efforts, Affiliated Dance School won another prize in Prix de Lausanne. It is a great encourage for the teachers and students of the Affiliated Dance School and is meanwhile an opportunity to enhance the teaching quality and cultivate more dance talents.
