The Object and Music Playlets Presentation of Directing Class 07 Successfully Held 07/04/2009

The object and music playlets presentation of Directing Class 07 was held in Black Box at 7：00 pm April 2. 

The presentation includes six different original pieces of work selected from those by the students of Directing Class 07 last semester. Learning object and music playlets as part of the directing training program was a pleasant but difficult experience. The students are required to transform their acting-oriented way of thinking into a directing-oriented one. They learn to find conflicts through an object or a piece of music，intensify the conflict，and then solve it.

There were two object playlets and four music ones presented. The audience was surprised by the bold choice and full usage of the objects. The object playlet ‘Definitely Not Movable’develops all kinds of emotions on a roadblock. The other one called‘Good to Have a Bike’told an interesting story by putting a bike in a certain circumstance.

The four music playlets pushed the presentation to a climax by taking full advantage of sense of hearing. The campus story‘Come on，Fatty！’touched the audience when the leading role，Fatty，expressed his feeling to a girl he fell in love by singing ‘You，My Deskmate’to her with the support of his friends. The popular song reminded the audience of their own youth.

Another music playlet，’Let Go for Love’，brings psychotherapy onto the stage with a famous pop song ‘I Do’. It features the last treatment a therapist offered to a patient who caught aphasia after a heavy blow in romantic relationship. The story reveals all-embracing love under the surface of personal emotion. When Xiao Han，the patient，sang the song aloud in the end，the therapist smiled，and so did the god.

While the audience was absorbed in the touching song，a rocky version of ‘I Only Care for You’ pulled them back to the busy and exciting city crowd. The conflict was solved wisely by music.
The last playlet，‘Farewell，Vancouver’ brings out the story of two lovers，both having families，accompanying each other while waiting for a Canadian nationality in Canada. The true but tough love was finally recognized.

The whole course of rehearsal and performance was completed successfully and delightedly by the Directing Class 07. Although there exist demerits in their works，their vitality and energy was inspiring.
This semester，the students will start a project of picture playlet，which is expected to be another hard but delightful experience.
