The Ziteng Symposium – Lecture Series by Doctoral Students 07/04/2009


On March 26,the Ziteng Symposium - Lecture Series by Doctoral Students of STA opened. The symposium was initiated by Division of Graduate Studies,aiming to offer the graduate students an opportunity to share their experience on academic research. 

Before the lecture,Sun Huizhu,Vice President of STA and Gong Baorong, Director of Division of Graduate Studies congratulated on the opening of the symposium and wished success to the lecture series. In the first lecture,Yu Rongjun,doctoral student of Class 07,Marketing Manager of Shanghai Dramatic Arts Center introduced the present situation of drama markets and managing system of drama troupes in our country starting from Shanghai Dramatic Arts Center where he works. He brought forward his own ideas on the commercial promotion of drama in cultural market and the reform of drama troupes. Besides,his introduction to the drama festivals of Germany and Singapore acquainted the students with the promotion of dramas in foreign countries.

On April 2,the second lecture “the Art of Butoh Dance in Japan” was given by Li Jianlong,doctoral student of Class 07.

Li Jianlong from Taiwan had studied in Japan before coming to study at STA. In the lecture,he shared his experience on all kinds of Butoh dance performances and workshops he had watched and attended. With abundant materials about Butoh dance he collected,he introduced the history and status quo of the art. The students realized the the spirit of Butoh dance through Li’s lecture. Many of them continued to talk with Li about the art.

With the two lectures as a beginner,the lecture series will include many more lectures by doctoral students on topics such as “Design and Management of Dramatic Works” and “Social Performance Strategy of Office Ladies”. We hope that this symposium will encourage the students to communicate,share and make progress together.
