Showcase Week of University Students’ Arts Practice Base 27-10-2009

Reported by Jiang Hong Bin from People’s Daily Online Shanghai on October 27th that the Showcase Week will soon be unfolded start on Oct. 29th. Students of six universities will bring their performances to Nang Jing Road， Century Square.

The Arts Practice Base was established 5 years ago on 14 different locations， 6 of which participated in this year’s Shanghai International Arts Festival： Choirs Base in Fu Dan University，Fashion Design in Dong Hua University， folk music in Shanghai University of Finance and Economics， Dance in Shanghai Normal University， Theatre art in Shanghai Theatre Academy， and Martial Art in Shanghai Institute of Physical Education.

This showcase is the first public performance of the Practice Base since its establishment， and acted as an important part of the mass culture activities of International Festival.  Every noon 11 to 12 from Oct. 29th to Nov. 3rd each university will present their creativities， Each session contains three themes：patriotism，diversity of ethnics and passion for World Expo。Dong Hua University names their session as Fashion Dong Hua，which includs： Indonesian singing and instrument playing， Belly Dance， choir， and Fashion Culture Showcase is particularly outstanding. In Fu Dan’s session， Bo Ya （Broad and elegant）Fu Dan， they will perform the song the Best of Bond and dance Qiao Hua Dan， etc.， manifesting the gracious temperament of Fu Dan Students. Shanghai University of Finance and Economics will bring several folk music pieces， some of them has won the top award of Shanghai Students Arts Festival. Youth of SNU by Shanghai Normal University will present dance Shan Hua Lang Man and Leap， etc.， the session， Romantic STA by STA students from Musical Class and Inner Mongolian Class will bring us a touch of musical art and ethnical charm. Shanghai Institute of Physical Education integrates drama elements into martial art in their performance Passion SIPE. On the performance day， there will be more than 10 judges on site to elect shows for the most creative Award， most outstanding Award， and etc.

As the showcase will be unfolded soon， the committee has released Logo， website and other materials of Shanghai University Students Art Base， and looking for its branding strategies， as an attempt to build its own band.
