The fifth chapter of EU Common Voice Project was held in STA last week, aim to explore the future of cultural industry, the cultural interaction and differences between China and EU countries. The project has launched since 2009 and was held in shanghai, Leeds, and Brgenz respectively. President of STA Han sheng, STA faculties and students have participated in the process.
The EU delegation group including more than ten artists, theatre managers and professors from Leeds University(UK), North Oepra( UK), Bregenz Festival (Austria) and Sibelius Academy(Finland).During the workshop, the delegates had talks with STA students form Arts Management course, researched on the enterprise environment for the graduates in Shanghai and formed Creative Artists Team to work on dramaturgy, acting, music and other theatrical elements under the theme of two mothers fighting for a baby. The collision of Chinese theatre and western theatre inspired profound research on intercultural collaboration. On april 13th morning, the EU artists did four workshops for the STA students, e.g. western opera voice, movement training, music improvisation and arts management.
In the afternoon, EU Common Voice Project Team gave audience an introduction to the origin of the project and presented a short piece of Two Mothers story integrating Chinese Opera and western opera elements. The performance was well received by the audience and followed by an exciting Q&A session.
